After a couple of weeks working at Design Workshop, I’ve been plugged into multiple projects at this point. I am still working heavily on those sections/elevations I mentioned previously, but I have also started to branch out and have been working on Rhino sun/shade studies for another project which is super fun getting to explore 3D modeling in a professional setting. I was also able to go on my first site visit to downtown Aspen which was really cool to see a project being built and be able to meet the contractors. The office culture has also been amazing to be immersed in, I can expect my co workers and I to do weekly trivia or karaoke at an assortment of bars around the valley. Within office hours everyone is constantly joking or playing music so it’s a great culture that really emanates a school studio culture. There is also an absurd amount of LSU Alums that work at this office, it really seems like there is a LSU to DW Aspen pipeline. Also, for MLK day, our office had a day of service where we chose locations to volunteer. I chose the Aspen camp, which resulted in me spending 8 hours installing laminate flooring in a freezing cold basement (great experience tho)

Weekends have been a little slower with all the snow we’ve been getting. I really need to get into skiing but just haven’t yet (cause dang its expensive). Also, the food in this area sucks and these people barely know what salt and pepper is. HOWEVER, I’ve had a bison burger which was really one of the better burgers I’ve had in my life. In my town there is the confluence of the Roaring Fork River and the Colorado River, which apparently is gold medal trout fishing?? Not exactly sure what gold medal entails, but I will be purchasing a fly-fishing rod and starting to get into it (in my connor reese era).  The air quality is also amazing here, I feel like my breathing has significantly improved and my lungs feel healthier.
