Life@CARBO Vol.6
Hello Family
As always, I hope all is well with you all...
Assignment Updates:
WEEK
THIRTEEN
·
Further assisted on work for LSP Crime Lab
as we have a Deadline this Wednesday and Hayden is hard at work wrapping up a
set of material to send over for review/feedback/comments.
·
In aid to Hayden, I was tasked with formatting
spec sheets to the desired format for precast concrete, subdrainage, Site
Furnishings, Artificial turf, and Earth Works.
·
Assigned to put in planting on JD Clifton
mainly all ground shrubs and Bermuda hydroseed and sod for the lawns on site. I
imported majority of the plantings from another project Perkins Road
Overpass which is a biking path that runs under the Perkins overpass
that notoriously has very little “shoulder” space.
·
On Friday we worked until about 1:30 and then
Hayden, Grayson, Connor, Danielle, Julia, and I moved to our plot behind the
office to plant plugs for CARBO Labs. We had a variety of plugs
that we planted based upon a planting plan Grayson and Hayden spearheaded. This
was my first time really planting things aside from in pots. Aside from the
massive sweating I legitimately enjoyed myself, it was a great experience. We
have a few more plugs to put in the ground, we aim to finish up the job next
Friday.
WEEK
FOURTEEN
·
Worked on designating and setting up workspaces
for JD Clifton. Made updates to the putting green area as the planting design was
slightly altered. This is in aim to develop a diagram to illustrate project
phases. We are in no man’s land sort of; we are taking the project as far as we
can on the landscape end as we await survey information that we’ve been waiting
on for weeks.
·
Mikiala and I were tasked with creating four
section drafts for Moncus Park. This Friday Shannon and Amy will be taking
these drawings to a meeting to receive input and feedback.
·
As the Women’s and Men’s College Basketball
Championships took place on Sunday and Monday respectively, we now have
official winners of the office bracket challenge. On the women’s side the UConn
Huskies of the Big East took home the natty over the South Carolina Gamecocks
of the SEC dubbing Amy victorious. On the Men’s side the Florida Gators of the
SEC took home the natty over the Houston Cougars of the Big 12, dubbing Zach
victorious. No dubs for me, St. Johns and Duke sold me on the Men’s side, and
South Carolina and USC my JuJu got hurt :( couldn’t get the job done. Till next
time.
·
Lunch n’
Learn with DPS focusing on Permeable Pavers and underground Chambers.
·
Finished Moncus Park sections for the review.
·
Finished planting the beds in the lot behind the
office. We had a couple more hands on deck this time.
Personal Bits:
The NBA Playoffs began this past weekend...
Here lies my analysis after the Game 1's
buckle up,
if you don't read or care it all trust me, I understand.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) THE CLEVELAND CAVALEIRS vs. (8) THE MIAMI HEAT
CAVS UP (1-0)
My Take: Cleveland boasts one of the most complete rosters in the league. With an explosive backcourt of Mitchell and Garland, plus a dominant frontcourt featuring Strus, Mobley, and Allen, they present serious matchup problems—especially for a shorthanded Heat squad. Despite Tyler Herro having a career year and Adebayo playing his role well, Miami lacks a consistent third scoring option. Without Jimmy Butler, the 8th-seeded Heat simply don’t have the firepower to keep up.
PREDICTION: CAVS WIN SERIES (4-0)
(2) THE BOSTON CELTICS vs. (7) THE ORLANDO MAGIC
CELTICS UP (1-0)
My Take: The Celtics live and die by the three, and with their size, athleticism, and playoff experience, they turn stops into points with ease. It’s a relentless style that's tough to counter. Orlando, while gritty and great at generating second-chance points, lacks postseason experience—a crucial edge Boston holds, especially in crunch time.
PREDICTION: CELTICS WIN SERIES (4-1)
(3) THE NEW YORK KNICKS vs. (6) THE DETROIT PISTONS
KNICKS UP (1-0)
My Take: This series is set to be a battle. Both teams are deep and gritty, reflecting the toughness of their cities, which makes for a chippy, high-energy matchup. Cade Cunningham is getting his first taste of playoff basketball, and while he finished with 21 points (8-21 FG) and 12 assists, he spent much of Game 1 adjusting. Experience showed its value late—New York closed with a decisive run in the fourth while Detroit looked rattled, unsure how to respond under pressure.
PREDICTION: KNICKS WIN (4-2)
(4) THE INDIANA PACERS vs. (5) THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS
PACERS UP (1-0)
My Take: Giannis did everything he could in Game 1, dropping 36 points and 12 boards, but got little help from his supporting cast—evident in his lone assist. The Bucks’ poor shooting made it a one-man show. With Damian Lillard expected back for Game 2 after dealing with blood clots, there’s hope he can spark a turnaround. If not, Milwaukee’s postseason could end quicker than expected.
PREDICTION: PACERS WIN (4-1)
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER vs. (8) THE MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
THUNDER UP (1-0)
My Take: This game was nothing short of a massacre. Memphis got beat by 50 points. Ja isn't 100% but Jaren Jackson Jr. & Desmond Bane are capable of some great performances, and I wouldn't be surprised if they could lift the Grizz to win at least a game. Though I think OKC will be too much for the Memphis in round 1, nevertheless, it's not first to one its first to four.
PREDICTION: THUNDER WIN (4-1)
(2) THE HOUSTON ROCKETS vs. (7) THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
WARRIORS UP (1-0)
My Take: WAAAAAAARRRRRIORRRRRSSSSS! Road playoff wins are always big, and Houston made us earn this one. Their young, athletic squad showed flashes, but our experience ultimately made the difference. With vets like VanVleet, Brooks, Adams, and Uncle Jeff guiding the Rockets, they’re no easy out. But the Warriors are battle-tested—Steph and Dray have four rings, and Moody, Kuminga, and GP2 bring that 2022 title pedigree. Add in Jimmy Butler’s deep playoff résumé, and we had the poise to close. Despite blowing a 24-point lead and struggling on the boards, our veteran core stepped up late, sealing a 95–85 win with key plays on both ends.
PREDICTION: WARRIORS WIN (4-1)
(3) THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS vs. (6) THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
T-WOLVES UP (1-0)
My Take: The best way I can convey this game is a SwitchFest. The T-Wolves emptied they clip from beyond the arc, and it did not jam up once, hitting a combined 21 three pointers on the night. Jaden McDaniels had a stellar night dropping 25 on a scorching (11-13) from the field. To add, a fan favorite Naz Reid also poured in 23 more off of the bench most notably shooting (6-9) from downtown. The Lakers didn't exactly play bad, the T-Wolves really just did not miss in Game 1. Not sure if we are in store for SwitchFest #2 in Game 2 on Tuesday but, Minnesota secured an important playoff road win in LA.
PREDICTION: LAKERS IN 7.... THE NBA LOVES THE LAKERS
(4) THE DENVER NUGGETS vs (5) THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
NUGGETS UP (1-0)
My Take: This has all of the makings of a classic 7 game series. Jokic and Harden are leading the charge for their squads with Jokic dropping 29 points, 9 rebound, and 12 assists, and Harden putting up an impressive 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists. Role players contributed well none more crucial than Russell Westbrook hitting a clutch corner three and getting a huge defensive stop to ultimately set up the Nuggets victory. It will be interesting to see they adjustments made by both sides for Game 2 Monday night. I think Jokic is the MVP btw.
PREDICTION: NUGGETS WIN (4-3)
