Life at CLH w/ Chloe #5
Hey friends! We are already almost halfway done with our internships (CRAZY!) I for one, honestly do not want to go back to school in the fall. I am loving working and not having to stress about school. I am really excited to be back with all of y'all in a few months though! I miss y'all!
Work:
Work has been pretty busy the past two weeks. We have a bunch of deadlines on the last of the month so we are working really hard to push out some work for the deadlines. I had to completely redo one of my renderings today because the design changed entirely. The client decided that our original design was too expensive so we had to cut out a lot of our design which made it difficult to edit the rendering so I just started from the beginning.
A fun project that I got put on last week is a quad on Duke's campus. Even though this project just started, it is a small project so I should be able to see this one through construction since I don't leave until July. It will be very cool to see this one through since Duke is a big school!
I also got assigned to work on the plant palette and landscaping on a project for Central Carolina Community College. We are running behind on this project so I only have two days to finish creating the palette and adding plants to the plan which is difficult because we still don't have a completed plan yet. Once we finish this phase (SD), we get to go on a site visit which will be fun because I get to see other projects that CLH worked on at this campus. I am really looking forward to that!
Last week, we had our annual reviews so we got to hear what the president and CEO think of us and how we are working with the team. Mine went so well! They really like me here and said I fit their standards for an entry level employee and couldn't wait to see me grow even more. They told me to keep up with them my last year and offered to review my projects for me during the year!
Life:
I haven't really done much the past two weeks outside work but it has been nice because I really needed the relaxation! It has been a lot of work so it has been nice to have the weekend to just rot lol. I do have a trip to NYC planned soon and I am headed to Baton Rouge at the end of April so I am really looking forward to that.
Tomorrow, we have another lunch and learn so that is exciting, free food and a learning session, count me in! We also have our monthly work breakfast next week so that's fun! Coming up at CLH we have a service day so we take the day off of work to go out to our community and do some service work. I think we are going to a local park and mulching the trails. Should be fun!
Sophie met this lady last week who's husband was a landscape architect that just recently passed away. She had rooms full of landscape books from him that she was just going to get rid of so she let us come over and take as many books as we wanted! I got a ton, not really sure how I am going to get them back to Baton Rouge lol.
I don't have too many pics for y'all this week sadly but here's a picture of my apartment with everything started to bloom!I hope everyone's internship is going well and I cannot wait to hear all about them!
