Hello all,

As I continue along with my internship, I am now starting to get more comfortable with the office workflow and standards—I no longer need the cheat sheets. This week I have been working mostly on the park in Edina, MN, that I had mentioned in my last blog. For this project, we are close to wrapping it up, so I have mainly been working in SketchUp, making sure everything is right. I also have been working with the same model in Enscape to come up with some renders for an upcoming presentation. The visualizations will help convey our design intentions and give stakeholders a clearer idea of the final outcome. I'm excited to share these images, as they truly showcase the transformation we envision for the park. At first, I had thought Lumion was where it was at; however, now that I am more comfortable in Enscape, I like it much better. I feel like it runs better and has a much better look than Lumion. Other than this project, I also have been working on another project that is close to wrapping up. This one, however, is not just a park but a mixed-use development. It has been interesting to walk through the buildings that the architects modeled in SketchUp to see all the details and also get unique views from inside the building looking out. I am slowly becoming a SketchUp gorilla. Also, at Confluence each intern gets the opportunity to do their own project with the resources we have here, so I am wrapping up the site analysis phase of my project and am about to start programming and designing. For my project, I chose the undeveloped lawn in front of Saint Paul's Cathedral, which is a beautiful building. The cathedral is registered under the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, so there are a lot of restrictions and strict codes of what I will be able to do. I will keep everyone updated in the following weeks on how the project is going.

Outside of work, not much is new—I am someone who loves a routine, so my weekdays are pretty much just copy and pastes. On the weekend, I have been enjoying going out to the breweries, pubs, and bars around town with a lot of friends from high school. This weekend I will be going to Saint Paul to watch the state hockey championship, which is always a rowdy and fun time. It is also finally starting to warm up here a bit, which is exciting, as I will soon be able to finally go outside.
