All I Do Is Model - Life @ SWA #5
Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well - I know it's been a while since I wrote buttt a lot has been happening recently, both in and out of work.
I'll start with work; my last post was talking about a 3D model I was building and rendering. Well I finished working on that and views were sent out to the client along with the photoshop plan I showed before. They loved the vision and want to move forward with the design! I know its not my design, but it feels good hearing that the graphics I helped create were liked by the client.
Well... I assumed I would continue working on that project as a had been for a while, but I got asked to help out on another. This time I'm actually getting to do design work - which is both scary and exciting at the same time.. but they have me creating and designing different entry monuments for a planned community project outside of Katy. There's no real deadline for this task so I've been plugging myself into it whenever I get the chance to. I have a bunch of different concepts that I've been moving through; I started modeling them in Rhino, but haven't had the chance to fully render them yet. I'm doing them in D5 and, while they're pretty simple models, playing with the lighting tool has been really fun even though I may have wasted a whole morning going back and forth in the settings trying to figure out how it works.
Besides this though, my time has been pretty occupied working on another model and rendering for a different portion of the residential development. It's becoming pretty standard for me at this point, but this model is specifically focusing on a plant bed and the planting design within. I came in not knowing too much about planting design but these different rendering tasks have really helped expose me to a lot of different design elements when it comes to planting.
Outside of work has also been pretty interesting lately!
We recently help an art opening at the office for 2 local artists and held a discussion panel to talk about their work. It was really interesting hearing their points of view and what they hoped to inspire with their art. I also have a hiking trip to Chattanooga coming up for spring break so this past weekend I spent some time walking around the city and seeing some more sites. Most of it was spent walking through the Museum District and Rice University. The design, but landscape and architectural, was breathtaking if I'm being honest. I've also just been exploring downtown during my lunch break. I recently went into the tunnels and saw these really pretty murals.
Obviously I'm going to post pictures so enjoy and have a great week everyone :)
I really liked this piece; she used multiple different materials and techniques to make this. If anyone is interested in more of her art let me know! |
This piece was by the other artist; this was by far my favorite of his pieces |
I know this is a church but come one, this is just sitting on a random street somewhere. Its gorgeous |
Rice University used these screens to hide their parking garage in plain site! I had no idea this was there until I was right next to it |
Perfect mix of work n play. Those drawings are chefs kiss
