(#2) The One Where Kenzie Gets to Work

Okay we hit it slow last time so we’re gonna cover a lot pretty fast here because I’m a sleepy lady.

First Month In the Office

Right of the bat, we hit the ground running and I was put on a planting design project for a local restaurant in the area week one.

It was the first time I’ve had to review city ordinances to find landscape guidelines and it was rather helpful to figure out how to look for such things. Did you guys know the real world has rules? Rather inconvenient, but we made due anyhow.

After I completed my landscape plan to meet city and client requirements, I emailed it out to the architecture firm we are a sub consultant to, and they sent it to the client for feedback. After we made it through that, I worked on making a plat document because the city of Memphis requires you to keep track of all landscape designs for various sites throughout the years. I had never heard of these so it was fun to figure out. I wrapped it up and set it on out and now it’s being reviewed by the city for comments!

Not too long after I started, Addy Mack came down to Tennessee to visit! We were on our way to see Joie for a weekend get away, but first we had to stop by the bass pro shop pyramid, of course. After showing Addy around our architectural wonder, we went to my humble abode for a good ole dinner of BBQ - bc this is Memphis. I LOVED having her here. Please tell her to come back in the comments. Addison, if you’re reading this, your next😈.

that weekend we made our way to St Louis where Joie took us to as many places as we could fit into our tiny 24 hour trip. My favorite thing was getting to hear her point out all of her spots across town and getting to put together more pieces of Joie. The botanical garden was a close second. I’m tired of talking so I’m going to let these pictures speak for themselves. Addy told me I had to have 3 favorites but it’s simply not possible.

Life@CARBO Vol.2

GREETINGS ONCE AGAIN! I am attempting to get better at this blogging thing, I think my delivery of the last one was a bit bland and robotic. Fortunately, they say in life growth is inevitable and the same applies to my internship experience. I feel the level of trust is being raised with us interns. From the increased workload to the level of work being that is tasked to us. I don't know if it's just me but having my judgement and skill trusted to the level of having a deliverable that I had a large role in being presented to others is a slightly nervous but very rewarding feeling. It also acts as a motivator to keep learning and increase the quality of my efforts.  Assignment updates! Mikala and I did tree warranty work at Greenwood Park in Baker. Our task of was to walkthrough a portion of the park and tag the dead trees and ground shrubs so they could be replaced under their one-year warranty.                         ...
