WOOWWWW, FINALLY. Hi guys <3

DBA:
I hope everyone has had a good first month of their internship! I am at Dana Brown Associates in New Orleans. I am communicating from Monday-Wednesday and then Thursday/Friday are WFH always. So it’s not too bad driving, as soon as I start to get sick of it .. it happens to be Wednesday haha.

Actual work has been going pretty well. I have been doing a lot of site inventory/analysis research and making maps/diagrams from that for a couple of different projects. So far everything that I have worked on has been community parks, which has been pretty comfy and not too scary to jump right into. Also have been learning some CADLandFX tips and tricks to make life easier! Site visits and reports have been fun too! I’m a visual learner so seeing problems in real life/seeing the space I’m working with, I always enjoy.
This is a scary picture of me on my first site visit.. Chad gave no count down or told me he was taking a picture until like 2 sec before he snapped it lol.. We were Visiting Lakeside mall Corridor on 17th street, we are redoing the streetscape, so we were checking out the planting stakes to make sure everything was in the right place..

The crew here is awesome. Dana Brown is a Harvard and LSU graduate so her knowledge and expertise is amazing to work under. Also how she goes about handling issues/ clients is very straightforward and honest. This gets the best results in the business world I've noticed, and cuts out all the back and forth time wasting approach. She’s also hilarious..

Danielle is an LSU ALUM. She started working at DBA in 2012 and knows the place like the back of her hand. She’s very helpful and has a lot of experience so she has the answer to any question/problem imaginable. I’m thankful to have her. Chad is also an LSU ALUM and who I have been working with the most as far as projects go. He has a background in Landscape construction so I’ve been able to see things from a whole new perspective working with him as well.

No more if you can dream it, design it. It’s all about budget, time, and code restrictions now. So finding that balance will be a interesting, but fun challenge.

Ry’yan (also LSU ALUM) and Kayla are also very helpful and great coworkers. I ask them a lot of my “dumb” questions.. really just things I feel like I mightttt should maybe know/when I feel like I maxed Danielle’s patience out haha (she’s pregnant.. and has the heaviest work load). But Im sure I will work with them more in the future but as of now I haven’t got to spend too much time with them.

Personal Life:

Outside of work I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary for me. I am trying out a 75HARD challenge, which has been kinda tough to do working 9-5 and in New Orleans three days out of the week. But so far so good. Also am trying out a Gymshark66 challenge which is something my favorite gym clothing brand is hosting... Basically if I stretch/journal/and meal plan everyday for 66 days I have a chance to become a GYMSHARK ATHLETE. Which is actually a life goal of mine. So when yall see me posting dang near everyday show some love <3 pls :) I really need to win bc I spend wayyyyyy too much money there, so I need it for the freeskiiiiii. Plus as I continue posting, I'm enjoying content creating so much.  So if I could mess around and really get this gym influencer thing going..  idk we shall see.

Im also still working at Stabs on Fridays and Saturdays, so I'm maxxed all the way out per usual. Idk why I do it to myself lol but we have made it this far ya know, it will all pay off in due time!

I look forward to reading about everyone experience so far!
