After a month or so of working at Joseph Furr Design Studio things are going great. It is cool working with an office that has done so many local projects, like North Blvd. Town Square downtown that I drive past everyday. It also is amazing how many projects they have going at one time, especially considering it is just Joey and Matt. Things started off slow but the pace quickly picked up. My first few weeks were spent messing around in Vector works and Illustrator. This included making some cover sheets and context maps for projects in the New Orleans area and Natchez. I also worked on a master plan layout for Coquille Park in Covington that we framed and added a little dedication text for a board member that was retiring. Took that and delivered it which was a good time for a site visit.
Recently I have been working in Sketchup alot. Before this “Push/Pull" was about the extent of my sketchup experience. Not anymore! I am working on modeling a shrimp boat that will be included in a playground at Bucktown Harbor Park in Metairie. This is when I say things picked up. Joey and I stayed at the studio until 9 o'clock Tuesday and Wednesday getting models and drawing ready for the presentation today. (That overtime pay tho…) Sketchup is pretty sweet and I am looking forward to using it in future projects because I am already getting much faster at modeling. I'll include a few pics at the end.
Next week, I’m heading to Florence, Italy, to visit my sister, who’s studying Interior Design abroad. I’m excited to take a break from Baton Rouge and, of course, to see her! It should be a great trip. The last time we were in Florence, neither of us had any idea we’d both end up in LSU’s School of Art & Design, so it’ll be fun to experience the city again with that perspective. I’m sure we’ll be geeking out over all the incredible design!
Never been more excited to stay in the studio late! Enjoy Italy!
