Life@CARBO Vol.2

GREETINGS ONCE AGAIN!

I am attempting to get better at this blogging thing, I think my delivery of the last one was a bit bland and robotic. Fortunately, they say in life growth is inevitable and the same applies to my internship experience.

I feel the level of trust is being raised with us interns. From the increased workload to the level of work being that is tasked to us. I don't know if it's just me but having my judgement and skill trusted to the level of having a deliverable that I had a large role in being presented to others is a slightly nervous but very rewarding feeling. It also acts as a motivator to keep learning and increase the quality of my efforts.

Assignment updates!

Mikala and I did tree warranty work at Greenwood Park in Baker. Our task of was to walkthrough a portion of the park and tag the dead trees and ground shrubs so they could be replaced under their one-year warranty.

WEEK FIVE

·         Wrapped up the warranty tree/plant tagging at Greenwood Park in Baker, LA w/ Shannon and Mikala.

·         Continued working on both LSUA Downtown Health Services Center DD sheets and Roseate Beach section adjustments.

·         Company Retreat Meeting: The prior Friday our company partners and a few project managers took the day out of the office to discuss team goals, objectives, and vision for 2025. We then took a half-day this Friday to discuss those conversation points with the rest of the office. This was a laid-back function where we grilled burgers, and hot dogs and drinks were provided. We then spent time outside and planned out the lining of the tree beds that were planted on office property during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

WEEK SIX

·         Was updated on the LSP (Louisiana State Police) Crime Laboratory project and was tasked with adjusting details for the DD sheets.

·         Received feedback on DD sheets for LSUA Downtown Health Services Center and made those corrections

·         Revisited Greenwood Park with Mikala to round up a few more photos of trees to complete warranty documentation

·         Worked on redlines for Roseate Beach sections to tweak elevation markers to better illustrate existing protected sand dunes.

Personal Bits:

Earlier this month my younger cousin celebrated a birthday; he prompted me bring my hoop shoes as he wanted to play basketball in the driveway for his party. After playing for a while I found myself in a dunk contest with five middle schoolers. I think I took it too personally...

Danny's Driver Report:

As everyone knows I love cars. I passed by the Porsche dealership to see that they had a 2019 GT3 RS on the showroom floor. So of course I had to check it out!

(I'm sure if I save all of my work checks I could buy the steering wheel)

Also, while on the subject of cars this week I drove my first BMW M4! It was spec'd in Metallic Midnight Blue with Ivory White interior. It is undoubtedly in the top three fastest cars I've driven so far, quite the machine to say the least.

(It's funny because I have a blue M4 on my office desk. Amazing how the universe works things out.)

Excited for what is to come, I'll keep improving my blog posts. I've also thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog posts! I'm pumped to keep reading the ones that are on the way. Keep enjoying your experiences, check in with y'all soon!

Peace & Blessings
