BLOG 2 - SOPHIE WEBBER @ CLH DESIGN PA

WORK: After another 2 weeks of work, the heat is on. I am now being put onto bigger and more intense projects. I rendered a plan in Photoshop last week, surprising right? I miss Illustrator. I am also working on a fence project for an elementary school in the Raleigh area to corral the kids on the playground. I rendered a Library and did a planting pallet that was sent off to the architect and got good reviews! Along with some concepts I did for a quad on Fayetteville University. They told me to do 2 formal concepts and 1 "jazzy" one. They ended up liking the jazzy one! Yay jazz! I have definitely improved my CAD and Photoshop skills and am feeling good about everything!

For Valentines day, I cooked dinner for Chloe and I and we watched Love is Blind. It was so festive and fun! My birthday was Tuesday the 18th, and my friends made me feel so special. My parents and brother sent me flowers to the office. I left the office looking like a walking botanical garden. I got home to my house decorated by my roommate, cookies sent to me from my friends in Baton Rouge, and dinner with my friends. I can never go a birthday without a king cake, so my parents shipped me one from Gambinos. It was so much fun getting my NC friends to try it for the first time. On top of that, I got the baby! Good luck to me for the year. #letsgo. It was such a great birthday. The day after my birthday, we got 5 inches of snow. We worked from home the rest of the week! I have been really getting into cooking new recipes and water coloring.

PLAY: The past two weeks have been so much fun! I have been taking lots of weekend trips and hanging out with my friends I have made here. My neighbors and I watch the bachelor every Wednesday and go out on the town on Fridays! Last weekend, I went to Charleston, South Carolina! I met the little girl I babysit every summer in Natchez, Della, and her mom. Della and I have the same birthday, so it was a little trip for the both of us. We went on a carriage tour, ate delicious food, and went to the beach! The ocean is so healing! It felt good to be on the coast. I walked around the marsh and pretended I was in the cast of Outer Banks.  This weekend was one of my favorites. Chloe and I went to the North Carolina Zoo. It says that it is the best zoo in the nation... but I don't agree. It was great and all but super spread out and nothing special. Super fun, though. We then antique-malled our way around Asheboro, the small town that the zoo is in. It felt like a step back in time. We then drove 30 minuets to Winston-Salem, which I LOVED. There were so many vintage clothing stores, parks, historic homes, and was so hilly. It was the perfect mix between new and old.

This week, I am continuing my work on the elementary school fence project. I have meetings and have to set up a detail sheet and master plan. I will be cruising through this week counting down the days until Mardi Gras, my favorite weekend of the year!!! SO PUMPED OMG!!!

    1. a frosted seasonal treat that Mardi Gras partygoers eat between January 6 (otherwise known as Epiphany, Three King's Day, or Twelfth Night, and Fat Tuesday), which is the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Typically, king cake is made of a rich brioche dough and a wide array of fillings, such as cinnamon, chocolate, and cream cheese. But the rainbow magic is found in the glaze and sprinkles, which are usually gold, green, and purple. Even the colors of the icing (and royal colors of Mardi Gras) have a deeper meaning. Gold represents power, green is associated with faith, and purple illustrates justice. King cake is baked without a center, like your average Bundt cake, except buried inside the batter is a tiny plastic baby figurine.
