CONNOR Interning(7)- DDG

Image
Here we are again for another DDG update. We are mostly settled in to our new Burbank office but still fixing small things here and there like organizing books and things on shelves. May 2nd, we will be hosting the LA Student Award Banquet from 5pm-9pm. I hope to see all of you who are currently in BR there. Also, I think Yao is doing grad student project reviews in one of our conference rooms as I'm typing this. Might have to go take a peek. Lots of Pictures Below... Not everything has been super sweet here at the office since we moved... This is our new materials closet right now. After all my hard work moving these drawings and all our materials in here, one of the pipes in the back goes and leaks all Easter weekend. So now a bunch of our drawings are ruined(I was supposed to scan them). They also have me sitting at the front desk today which is bunz. I can't work on anything while I'm at this desk bc the lady that usually sits here has a whole different type of compute...

WEEKS 10-12.... I Guess I Missed an Update

Image
Week 10: Redlines, Renderings, and Road Trips Monday: Started the week with our usual scheduling meeting. Spent most of the day grinding through redlines to push our masterplan package toward permitting. Later, I shifted to developing diagrammatic sketches for some school renderings—visual storytelling mode fully activated. Tuesday: After our morning staff meeting, I dove back into rendering work before switching gears to tag coordinate points for a detention pond sidewalk. Unfortunately, I misunderstood the instructions and tagged about 2 00 extra points . Wednesday: Midweek started strong with our April birthday celebration. I went all in on the Chick-fil-A spread. Later, I joined a substantial completion walk and got the chance to meet a partner who used to be an associate at CCA and now runs his own business. We grabbed lunch afterward, then I got back to finishing redlines. Thursday: Focused on building out a greenway/amenity exhibit and knocked out some base and sh...

Blog 6 - Cameron Restivo

Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary has become the main focus point as of the recent weeks. We are quickly moving along as we have finished the irrigation work and around 80% of the bed prep. We have begun planting some of the areas but have had to wait on the more complicated areas and the ones along the building. The goal is to have the site planted by the end of next week.  Alongside Lane Regional Medical Center , w e have started to push our two other large-scale projects past the conceptual planting and into a schematic planting plan. We are ahead of schedule on these two plans, but that is intended as we would like to acquire the maintenance for these sites after we finish building them, so we're making every effort to make sure these two project flow as smoothly as possible.  If you've been reading all of these blogs, the OLOL remodel that includes a chapel courtyard space, new front entry and two atriums in the main lobby has reached a little stand still. We receiv...

Getting Back to Work - Life @ SWA #7

Image
LIFE @ SWA    Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well! I'm finally feeling a little more adjusted back into work after being gone for spring break - but I really haven't had much to talk about. This past week really started to pick up though and thanks to the three day weekend I was able to explore a ton more of the city. WORK: A Story of Life at the Office      This past week I've been showing up to work a lot earlier than normal and I've finally gotten a good morning schedule down. I'm having one of those quarterly epiphanies that I work better in the morning and thinking its something new every time. Without any distractions in the morning though, I've gotten a good bit of work done. Project Appraisal:  This past week the main thing I was focused on was doing an appraisal of a project for a different company. I don't know the specifics as to why we were doing it, but the process has been cool. Learning how to create and organize a pricin...

CAD monkey time

Image
I started on a new project in lake charles. We are redesigning the parking lot for the health center there. Adding a ton of green islands, having bioswales and stmw basins, all the good stuff. Ry’yan and Dana designed and drafted the whole thing, but it was my job to create the master plan in CAD. Honestly, I didn’t even hate this. CAD is lowkey satisfying as heck to me because it’s to precise and clean. Only think I hate is the dang layer naming haha im so used to just creating layers that make sense to my brain but obviously I have to be more organized and can make perfect sense to anyone opening that file so that’s been my biggest challenge fr.  After I finished the plan I also created two sections in CAD to show the bioswale and parking lot features.  The format keeps messing up and i don't feel like fixing it..  but here is a dump of Stella being dramatic as freak.. acting like she has two jobs and pays the bills..  And then me at the office alone all day becaus...

Public meeting work :)

Image
But yeah I have been busy busy, one cool thing I been working on was preparing for a public meeting for a park we are redesigning in St. Tammany parish.  I put together some boards with precedent images for the community to have an idea of what we are trying to go for, as well as get their input for some of the decision making. I also made proposed programming diagrams earlier last month that we sent to the council. So I used these to create an interactive master plan so people move and pin to show what they think makes sense programming wise/what they want to see!  I also made two sections to plant that picture in the community’s mind. Which I did 100% in AutoCAD and Photoshop! Who’s surprised ?! They came out pretty good if I say so myself.    dont know if im supposed to be sharing these so dont tell on me :( pls I also created a announcement flyer and instagram post that the Parish posted to inform people about the meeting. So that was cool knowing that my ...

2 week hiatus..

OMG you guys hi.. I know I have been MIA on here. but thats because ya girl been BUSYYYY!  I think the last time I checked in was when Danielle and Kayla left, pretty much the same week. With this happening I figured work would pick up for me, just because we are down two people in office. And boyyyyy was I right.  We have all been so busy trying to take over all the responsibilities of Danielle, s ince she has been gone to be a mommy and stuff. Her responsibilities and been distributed across the board. Ry’yan has came in clutch and been doing the most honestly. He’s taken over as the tech support man, runs our office meetings, and a bunch of Danielle’s projects. Chad has also helped w taking over projects, but he always has had a good bit on his plate. There isn't much of Danielle's stuff that i could take over other than answering the phone.. so i do that now.. yay :'( Lastly, Dana is now in charge of proposals. This has been interesting.  Me and Ry’yan were se...
