What a great few weeks it has been at CLH! I have been working on some exciting projects. My favorite has been working on a school expansion. I have been rendering the site on photoshop along with trying to grade the site. I have expanded my photoshops skills and have been able to show my coworkers what I can do. the grading portion has been difficult because my school level knowledge of grading is not in comparison with the level of grading for this project. In addition to the school, I have been able to help in the DD stage for a health center and morgue. I have learned all about setting up sheets and key notes and have been helping edit some of the design based on redlines from the architect and clients. We have a meeting later this week with our president to go through more red lines before we send the 100% DD off to the client. With this project, I have also been able to work on details.  Hello out there! I'm back with another update on being an intern at DDG. They've had me working on more details and seeing how good I am with learning new things. I picked up on Land F/X pretty quickly. It's just AutoCAD with a few extra buttons. I think my favorite part about it is F/X Planting. The plants are already in the Plant Manager and you get to choose how to render them from a vast list of plant styles. Now I know how to label plants on a plan correctly. I've made details for ping pong tables, outdoor lighting fixtures, as well as flow through gardens and bio-swales. That's not all but there's too many to say... just a bunch. I also learned how to bind my own books. I have to bind together the project manuals for the team from time to time. It's so satisfying when you bind it correctly on the first try.      My time with RVi has been a great. Austin is an amazing city with so much to do. The way the city integrates nature into every part of the city really appeals to me. Something I've noticed is the huge cycling and running culture here. This is made more accessible because of the designated bike lanes and greenways sprawled throughout the city. I have been taking full advantage of this by walking to work and biking into downtown every weekend.  BLOG 2 - SOPHIE WEBBER @ CLH DESIGN PA  WORK: After another 2 weeks of work, the heat is on. I am now being put onto bigger and more intense projects. I rendered a plan in Photoshop last week, surprising right? I miss Illustrator. I am also working on a fence project for an elementary school in the Raleigh area to corral the kids on the playground. I rendered a Library and did a planting pallet that was sent off to the architect and got good reviews! Along with some concepts I did for a quad on Fayetteville University. They told me to do 2 formal concepts and 1 "jazzy" one. They ended up liking the jazzy one! Yay jazz! I have definitely improved my CAD and Photoshop skills and am feeling good about everything!  For Valentines day, I cooked dinner for Chloe and I and we watched Love is Blind.   WOOWWWW, FINALLY. Hi guys <3 DBA:  I hope everyone has had a good first month of their internship! I am at Dana Brown Associates in New Orleans. I am communicating from Monday-Wednesday and then Thursday/Friday are WFH always. So it’s not too bad driving, as soon as I start to get sick of it .. it happens to be Wednesday haha. Actual work has been going pretty well. I have been doing a lot of site inventory/analysis research and making maps/diagrams from that for a couple of different projects. So far everything that I have worked on has been community parks, which has been pretty comfy and not too scary to jump right into. Also have been learning some CADLandFX tips and tricks to make life easier! Site visits and reports have been fun too! As I woke up at the absolute crack of dawn (what a way to live), I contemplated all my life choices up to this moment. Thank god it led me to Studio Outside. After my hour drive down to the little brick office perched right on the edge of Fair Park, I knew that this internship was going to be interesting. My first day was long, but exciting! I was able to meet all 45 employees and then meet my project team. There are 3 teams in the studio, Team Oak, Team Elm, and Team Cypress. There was also another intern who started the same day as me, his name is Hayden, so at least I have something in common with someone here haha. After getting a quick tour of the office (we have so many meeting rooms and 2 kitchens!) I sat in on the weekly Team Oak meeting to see how they plan out the work amongst us. It was kind of overwhelming at first, being thrust into the office lifestyle with no idea what they are even talking about. GREETINGS ONCE AGAIN! I am attempting to get better at this blogging thing, I think my delivery of the last one was a bit bland and robotic. Fortunately, they say in life growth is inevitable and the same applies to my internship experience. I feel the level of trust is being raised with us interns. From the increased workload to the level of work being that is tasked to us. I don't know if it's just me but having my judgement and skill trusted to the level of having a deliverable that I had a large role in being presented to others is a slightly nervous but very rewarding feeling. It also acts as a motivator to keep learning and increase the quality of my efforts.  Assignment updates! Mikala and I did tree warranty work at Greenwood Park in Baker. Our task of was to walkthrough a portion of the park and tag the dead trees and ground shrubs so they could be replaced under their one-year warranty.                         ...
