The Final count down

Image
Omg hey you guysssssss The blogs are so fun and I love them but I have been so freaking busy with projects and stuff that I have been having to put this (and the rest of my life) to the side. Buttttt.. I'm maxed out. Between the drive (has been taking 1:45-2 hours here and back almost everyday now) I have not been able to be a normal human. I haven't even been able to go to sparring, I can't wake up any earlier than 5:15 am because of how tired I am (which means I only have 45 min to workout everyday...You guys know that sucks for me) :((( But I also have things like a dog (thank God for my wonderful friends/brother/aka roommates) laundry, grocery shopping, other random chores, also another job?? Like idk bruh I just have absolutely no time to do anything. Like by the time I get home(7:30/8pm most days) I immediately have to eat shower pack for the next day, and go straight to sleep.. IM NOT A ROBOT.  so to deal with this... Today is the day I'm going to tell them that...

So Many Models... Life @ SWA #8

Image
Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well. It's crazy to think that its already finals week back at LSU... it feels like this internship has only been a few weeks. Time is going by so quickly but I can't wait to see everyone again next semester! LIFE @ THE OFFICE The past week or so has still been pretty boring for me recently. I've had lots of work to do which is great, but going through CAD files and excel sheets is pretty monotonous. I was able to wrap up the TBG appraisal and finished making last minute edits to my entry monument models before putting them into the presentation slides. I think it's really cool that the client is going to be looking at the models I designed and choosing options that they like! It's also nerve wracking though... I've gone through so many times making tweaks and edits to them. *** as a side note, I think it's crazy how private residential work and private development communities always have more than enough or extra...

mikala's blog 6

Blog number 6 Week 14 – Week 16:  April 7 th - 25 th   Blog blog blog blog blog Hello and good morning- Work is going splendidly, but scheduling our classes makes me excited to see everyone back on campus! I added the playground that we received from DynaPlay into the Lock Park rendering and made some InDesign poster / graphics for a meeting with the mayor of Lake Charles. During the meeting he came to the realization that Lake Charles needs a custom playground! (bright side: custom playgrounds are way cooler and I am excited to be witness the process, dark side: I’m experiencing a neverending loop of rendering and rerendering). Whatever, so then I worked on gathering some potential custom precedents to get everyone’s brain rolling. Moncus Park is still in the early stages, I’ve been working on an excel of precedent parks, comparing their size, context, programming, and funding elements. That has been really nice to research other parks, while keeping our Monc...

Blog 7 simply for fun - Sophie Webber

Wow what a busy girl Sophie Webber has been.  I had a fabulous last few weeks in Raleigh filled with visits from LSU Spring breakers, happy hours with co-workers that I miss already, and a week of fun with my roommate and neighbors as a final hoorah!  Paying for Baton Rouge and Raleigh rent was pulling all the strings and pushing all the buttons, so once I completed my 12 weeks in person, I am working remotely the rest of the summer traveling between Natchez and Baton Rouge. I was sad to leave, but now that I am home, I am super happy. I missed my friends and family so so much! I personally cannot wait to see Mikala.  I had my ball in Natchez where I was the Magnolia Queen. I was honored and had an absolute blast. Now that I am back in Baton Rouge, I am flooded with Kappa senior activities, from dinners to Chapter Night Out to senior crawfish boils. It all kind of feels like a lie since I have a 5th year, but I guess it is my last year in Kappa.  I am so happy ...

Good Day Fam, Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your time interning. Hocker is a fun team and a good place to work. Everyone takes it at their own pace doing their best and helping eachother. People are full of patience and acceptance. It is good to be part of a succesful team.  I am still working on planting strategies for a private school masterplan toolkit that has been in the works since the first presentation in 2018. It is a large project in contrast to the usual smaller and quicker residential gardens that we usually work on.  Last semester's Jean laffite collaborative studio helped me a lot with understanding the idea of presenting a toolkit of a master plan for a larger community. Only this time I actually get to dig in to the ecology and implement it into the presentation. Looking back on it, I should have done that much better for my group but it was a confusing mess of agreements and just having a successful presentation. It went well nonetheless and I am pr...

6/Addy does not go hungry

There comes a time in every girl's life where she can look at herself and ask  "When did I become so successful at such a young age?"  Well, I'm not there yet. But good news guys!!!! I touched a marker the other day. We have so many Chart Pak markers here its embarrassing and I have been staring at them with drool falling out my mouth for 2 months now. I took the opportunity to use them when I had to do conceptual design for a performance hall area. That was about the only information I was given??? and so when I turned it back into my boss she was like um take in the context of the surrounding area. And I literally didn't know there was anything surrounding the area or where this project even was. I had asked so many questions trying to figure out what I needed to do and still. STILL. I was not given the information needed. It's getting a little exhausting, but a girl does like money and a girl does like to pretend to be successful at such a young age.  - Ok...

Hello Family As always, I hope all is well with you all... Assignment Updates: WEEK THIRTEEN ·          Further assisted on work for LSP Crime Lab as we have a Deadline this Wednesday and Hayden is hard at work wrapping up a set of material to send over for review/feedback/comments. ·          In aid to Hayden, I was tasked with formatting spec sheets to the desired format for precast concrete, subdrainage, Site Furnishings, Artificial turf, and Earth Works. ·          Assigned to put in planting on JD Clifton mainly all ground shrubs and Bermuda hydroseed and sod for the lawns on site. I imported majority of the plantings from another project Perkins Road Overpass which is a biking path that runs under the Perkins overpass that notoriously has very little “shoulder” space. ·          On Friday we worked until about 1:30 and th...
